Craven Community College

Craven Community College was established in 1965 as part of the Lenoir Community College. Since it was part of a technical institution it initially only offered courses in technical programs. Later the institute started several technical degree programs and became a full fledge technical college. In the 1970s however with several new programs like the credit transfer system etc the college was given the status of a community college. The college has three campuses in North Carolina but the main campus which is called New Bern is in the city of Havelock.
Craven Community College which has the motto of Reaching New Heights is known especially for their ADN degree in nursing and AAS degrees in aeronautical technology allied health and computer sciences. Some of the other technical education programs include EMT Fire Fighter Fire and Rescue College Workforce Development Customized Training Program Computer Skills Human Resource Development and many others. The other programs they offer include liberal arts Computer Science and Engineering Beauty and Cosmetology Family and Social Work Education and Teaching Business and Management Medical Administration Security and Law Enforcement Medical Support and Technology Production Trades etc.

Even though the college has an open door policy the prospective students are required to take a placement test. The good thing about this test is that its sole purpose is to determine which reading English and math course a student needs. The rest of the admission process is simple enough. You can collect your Transcript Request Card from the counselor and request your high school degree if you are a high school graduate. If you are not you can always present your GED. If you want to use any financial aid then you can get in touch with the Business Office. If you have completed your 60 credit courses at Craven Community College you can transfer to a four year college as well if you like.
