Degree Programs at Allen School
The three training programs available at Allen School are Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, and Medical Insurance Billing and Coding (Online). Medical Assistant training consists of skills necessary for working with doctors at private clinics and hospitals. This training program teaches the learners about office work related tasks such as computer technology, typing and use of word processing software, composition of business letters and memorandums, scheduling, telephone skills, front desk operation, billing and records management. The learners also receive medical training which includes knowledge of common disorders and illnesses, measurement of vital signs, EKG procedures, blood drawing and urinalysis, medical ethics and law, performance of clinical tests and effective patient relationships.
A Nursing Assistant program trains individuals in patient care which can be provided at nursing homes and other healthcare facilities. Some of the disciplines taught during this program include patient communication, infection control and precautions, hygiene training, feeding techniques and diets, assistance with transfers, discharge and admissions, patient psychology, knowledge of body systems and study of vital signs. People who wish to further their career in the field of nursing can also train to become a Patient Care Technician.
Medical Insurance Billing and Coding (Online) balances family, school and work while experiencing the flexibility of classes delivered directly to the comfort of your own home. Our faculty-intensive, web-based program offers the support needed within an online learning format. In addition, we use a combination of message boards, academic exercises, live interaction and video recordings, to facilitate consistent support and interaction between students and instructors.
