Lubbock Christian University
Introduction
The Lubbock Christian University was established in 1957 by the Churches of Christ in the county of Lubbock, Texas. 'Changing lives' is the moto of the university and the mission lies in the spiritual growth of its students so that they can learn to serve family, community and church. The core areas of concern portrayed in the 'Proclamation of Values' of the university include faith in God, people, continuous improvement and team spirit.
The faculty and learning experience
The faculty at the Lubbock Christian University includes scholars who are proficient in their fields and well established. Even at undergraduate level, all classes are taught by faculty members, most of whom have masters or doctoral degrees in their field. The student-to-teacher ratio is 15 to 1 and the class size is usually as small as twenty-five. Faculty members try to make assignments challenging by giving students a chance to think about innovations in order to improve the thinking process. The university can proudly claim that about 95% of it's students score above average on the Collegiate Assessment Academic Proficiency Exam. About 90% of the student body also receives financial aid because the university believes in supporting student success.
The Student Life
The student life is filled with opportunities for students to grow on a spiritual level by working for charity purposes. The small class size allows for teachers to act as mentors to guide students. Also students can become members of social clubs which can be a life-changing experience.
Educational Programs
The current enrollment at the university is more than 2,000 students out of which almost 500 are enrilled in graduate programs. The educational programs offered by the university are of a wide range at undergraduate level from arts and liberal sciences to management sciences. At masters level the concentration is on behavioral sciences, bible, education, leadership and management. Online bachelors in organizational management or leadership and online masters in human service or leadership are also available.
Accreditation
The Associate's degrees, Bachelor's Degrees and Master's Degrees at the university are accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The Green Initiatives by the University
The university is recognized for their various green initiatives in the areas of reducing waste, conserving energy, recycling and seeking LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for each new construction on campus.
