Motlow State Community College
Motlow State Community College was established in 1969. The College is generally known as MSCC. Its main campus is situated in Moore County. There is a teaching site in Sparta as well. Classes are also offered at the Smyrna Teaching Site, Fayetteville Center and McMinnville Centre. The College campus takes up 180 acres of land. The slogan of the college is “Education for Life”. The slogan does complete justice to the teaching capabilities of the college. Motlow Community College is governed by the Tennessee Boards of Regents. The Tennessee Board of Education is proud of being the sixth largest system of higher education in the nation. On an annual basis, more than 4,000 students are enrolled in the college. MSCC offers certificate programs and Associate degrees to its students. Students can achieve these degrees or certificates in fields of Sciences and Arts. The science field includes, Applied Science, Nursing and Science in Teaching. These certificates and Associate Degree programs can also be achieved through distance learning.
Distance education at MSCC aims to serve those individuals who work as part time or full time employees and cannot attend college classes on regular basis. It also accommodates those who are house bound and have responsibilities in the house, which makes it difficult for them to attend on-campus classes. People living in a geographically different location can also benefit from distance learning and accomplish their educational goals.
