Clark State Community College

Clark State Community College was established in 1962 in Springfield, Ohio. Originally, it was called the Springfield and Clark County Technical Education Program but only four years later the name was changed to Clark County Technical Institute. When the Ohio Board of Regents chartered the college in 1966, it was recognized as the first college in the State of Ohio which offered technical education. By the early 1970s, the college had been renamed for the third time to Clark Technical College with strength of more than a thousand students.
This was also the time when the college reassessed it policy and changed its focus. In this context, the college introduced several new programs in social sciences and humanities. This strategy was extensively used over the course of the following ten years and by mid 1980s, the college was already boasting the broadest range courses in general studies.
