Delgado Community College
Delgado Community College has its campuses both on the East and West Banks of New Orleans as well as some of the other parts of the state of Louisiana. It falls under the Louisiana Community and Technical College System. The main campus is located in the Navarre neighborhood. The college is named in the honor of the late Isaac Delgado, who was also its founder and had migrated to the United States from Jamaica. The institution was initially intended to be a school and that is what it was when it opened in 1921. It was not until 1980 that the Louisiana State Legislature declared it a college. That is when it was renamed to Delgado Community College.
As the oldest and the largest community college of not just New Orleans but the state of Louisiana, Delgado Community College offers numerous programs and courses like Allied Health, Business and Technology, Communication, Science and Mathematics, Arts and Humanities and even Nursing Courses. It offers both the Registered Nursing course as well as the Practical Nursing Training course. The Allied Health programs offer a plethora of courses and subjects that the learners can take up anytime for a promising career in numerous fields.
