Waubonsee Community College
Spread over more than 600 square miles is the Sugar Grove's Waubonsee Community College. The two year public community college aims at providing a quality higher education to the locals because it is the philosophy of the college that education is of prime importance in any democratic society. The college was founded in 1966 and has three campuses in the State of Illinois. The college also serves around twelve local public schools like Sugar Grove, Somonauk, Plano, Elburn, Big Rock, Maple Park, Yorkville, North Aurora and many others as well.
After thirty five years of existence, the college has had the privilege of teaching over two thousand students. What has helped greatly in achieving such a huge number of students is the extension site program. The college offers college credit courses along with seminars and lectures at somewhat forty sites. Some of these programs have contributed greatly in polishing the skills of the learners. They offer over a thousand credit courses on the campus like Business and Information, Social Science and Education, Technology, Mathematics and Physical Sciences, Communications and Library Services, Humanities, Fine Arts and Languages, Health and Life Sciences and many more. Some of the offered programs play an important role in preparing the learners for four year colleges.
