Located in the unincorporated area of the Madison County is Lewis and Clark Community College. Many of the buildings that currently form the main campus of the institute were built in the early eighteenth century. The land where it stands was the site of a women's finishing school, Monticello College. Monticello has been dysfunctional since 1971 and that was when their last class graduated. Lewis and Clark Community College began its first session in 1970 and unlike it predecessor institute, it was co-ed.

Like the admission process of many other colleges, the process for taking admission in Lewis and Clark Community College is simple enough.
