There is never a dull day in the lives of nurses. They get to help people on almost any given day, and on their good days, they even get to saves lives. What could be a more satisfying job than that of a nurse, where every second of every minute you get to help others? If you hold a nursing degree, you would always have something to do. Not many people realize it but nursesare almost just as important as the doctors, in more than just one way. Over the years, nursing is becoming more and more of an interesting profession for women as well as men.
There are two kinds of practicing nurses in the US. There are the Registered Nurses and then there are Licensed Practical Nurses. In order to become a Licensed Practical Nurse, you may need to take up relevant courses during your college year. The process of becoming a registered nurse,on the other hand,is much more intensive. In order to become a registered nurse, one needs to be a minimum two year degree holder. It involves much more clinic time and a lot more practicing before you can get ready to study for an associate’s degree in nursing.

Once you complete the nursing degree, you can go ahead and pursue either a bachelors or master’s degree in nursing to help further your career.  Just like doctors, nurses also choose a specialty for themselves. A specialist nurse holding a masters degree gets a better salary as compared to others. A highly qualified nurse is also a stronger candidate for prestigious and better paying jobs at hospitals, clinics etc. But with these prestigious positions comes a very serious responsibility as well, which you will realize once you get through the intensive nurse training courses.
