The purpose of any community college is to provide students an opportunity to start their higher education in a small, community-based setting, often at lower cost than a four-year institution. Similarly, the purpose of Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) is the same. Located in Oneida County, New York, Mohawk Valley Community College is an accredited two-year public educational institution, and a part of the 64-campus State University of New York System (SUNY). MVCC also has campuses in Utica and Rome. By offering accessible and affordable higher education, the college provides learners with choice, and opportunity. Training and services, highlighting academic excellence and diversity, are also provided to the students at MVCC. There are almost 100 Associate Degrees and Certificates Programs offered by the college. Additionally, MVCC also offers complete English as a Second Language Program. Founded in 1946, Mohawk Valley Community College, today, offers two-year degree programs and certificates in several popular areas of study, such as Business Administration and Management, Engineering, Computer Science, Health Sciences, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Graphic Design, International Studies, Psychology and more. Furthermore, all these degrees and certificates are also accessible through the internet. This means, the learners who wish to pursue higher education but cannot attend college regularly due to various reasons, can now obtain a two-year degree or certificate online, with the help of MVCC’s Distance Learning Program.
Other than offering abundant academic opportunities, Mohawk Valley Community College that sits on an 80-acre area, also offers students a broad range of intercollegiate and intramural sports programs, and various organizations and clubs including an active International Club.
