Junior Colleges
The purpose of a junior college is to impart the first two years of college education to its students. The curriculum that is taught at junior colleges is not limited to the first two year basic education core courses. In fact junior colleges also provide vocational and professional education. Hundreds of different diplomas and certifications are also handed out by junior colleges across America.
The highest degree that a junior college can distribute is an Associate’s degree. The majority of students that enroll in junior colleges tend to continue their education at other universities and colleges for specializations after the completion of the two years. Junior colleges allow transferring credits earned from the junior college to other technical and non-technical institutes. The credit hours earned at the junior college go towards the total credit hours required for a bachelor’s degree.
Majority of the junior colleges across America are public and are open to the entire community. The prerequisite for any curriculum and course work at a junior college is a high school diploma.
Junior Colleges are the launching pad for the higher education and incubator for athletes. Their primary focus is on academic education and lay equal emphasis on vocational and professional training of the students. Junior Colleges are considered to be one of the few options for the learners who, after several years of pause, continue their education. This concept is not entirely true, but yes, it is true that Junior Colleges facilitate everyone who is interested in going on with their education. The two years of education at a junior college allows the students to transfer their credits in a regular 4 years bachelor’s program and save both money and time.
It is very unfortunate that in many cases when the students are in the age to learn the most, their meager resources do not allow them. And when they have some resources, they are not eligible to apply in many programs due to increased age limit. Online education is a blessing for such student worldwide. You no longer have to worry about being the odd one out in the traditional class room and yet get the best of education.
